Russell Goodrich
Senior Pastor
Biography
Serving as Senior Pastor since 2000 has, and continues to be, the greatest joy for Russell. Before his call into ministry he lived on the Eastern Shore and developed relationships with all walks of life within our community. This has been a key asset in ministry as he now reaches out and leads the church to be Jesus Christ to them. His personal vision is that “All people be seen as an appointment from God for the sole purpose of advancing God’s Kingdom.” He finds great delight in his family as well. He and his wife Bonnie have children both here on the Shore and in Louisville, Ky. and there are two grandchildren so far. He loves the great beauty of the Shore by hiking, cycling, boating, and just relaxing.
Before coming here Russell served as youth minister during the church plant of Coastal Community Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He also served as youth minister at Brookview Baptist in Louisville, Kentucky and volunteered at the Jefferson Street Mission that reaches the homeless. His first two years at Cape Charles Baptist was bi-vocation where he worked for the town developing their afterschool program that eventually became a Boy’s and Girl’s Club of America. Since being here he has traveled twice with mission teams to Nicaragua reaching the poorest of the poor in that country.
Russell was born in Richmond Virginia and graduated from Boyce Bible College in Louisville with an Associates of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. From there he briefly studied at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forrest North Carolina before returning to Shore and being ordained into pastorate ministry.
